Fantastic science at the CIN-NIPS-Asia Pacific Systems Neuroscience Symposium in Tübingen

On March 10 and 11, 2023, we helped our institute, the Werner Reichardt Centre for Integrative Neuroscience (CIN), organize and host the 11th CIN-NIPS-Asia Pacific Systems Neuroscience Symposium. We had an amazing lineup of speakers from the Tübingen Neuroscience Community (NeuroCampus), as well as from several Japanese and Chinese guests!

The Japanese guests came from the National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS) in Okazaki, as well as from Tokyo, Kyoto, and Okinawa. The Chinese guests were from the Institute of Neuroscience in Shanghai. We were very happy to host them in Germany, and we hope for many future multi-lateral visits.

The local speakers at the symposium were from multiple institutes in Tübingen, including the Max-Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, the Institute for Neurobiology, and the CyberValley.

There was also very lively poster sessions, in which our lab presented three different posters summarising our recent research activities on active perception.

Our lab also featured a fantastic talk by Tanya and Fatemeh, showcasing very intriguing results that we have about sensory and motor processes in the lower brainstem!

And, last but certainly not least, the symposium featured a keynote address by our very own Peter Thier, who is one of the founding fathers of the CIN, as well as the founding fathers of this annual tradition between our community and the Asian ones.

Peter summarized many years of research in his lab on the neural mechanisms of social attention.

After the event, we also offered lab visits to the foreign and local delegates, in which we exchanged notes on our respective experiences.
