Our lab participated in this year’s European Conference on Eye Movements (ECEM), which took place in Leicester, UK. This was the first in-presence ECEM since the beginning of the pandemic, so it felt particularly special. It was very nice to experience this conference again in real life.
The conference is unique in that it brings all kinds of eye-movement researchers together, whether they are interested in eye tracking technologies, reading research, virtual reality, or even marketing research.
The conference also featured the presence of several companies providing eye tracking tools for industry, and they described how eye tracking can be useful in a variety of settings, like with driver monitoring options in cars.
Leicester was also a very nice and peaceful multi-cultural city.
At this year’s ECEM, our lab was featured by a keynote address given by Ziad, titled “A vision for orienting in primate oculomotor control circuitry”, and featuring the work of all past and present lab members.
Ziad’s keynote address was very well received by the community, as evidenced by a couple of tweets by attendees about it!
We are very grateful for the opportunity to describe our research efforts to the ECEM community, and we look forward to attending many more ECEM’s in the future.
