We are very happy that our latest work on memory-guided microsaccades was selected by Dr. Sachin Ranade, Senior Editor at Nature Communications, for the Editors’ Highlights section of his journal’s From Brain to Behaviour web page!
The PDF of the web page is here: From Brain to Behaviour.
The work that we have described in this paper is particularly exciting for us, because it allowed us to use behavioral tasks dissociating visual guidance from motor control of individual microsaccades. As we showed in the paper, this novel application of behavioral control over individual microsaccades proved to be very fruitful, because we could identify specific types of superior colliculus neurons that only discharged with visual guidance of microsaccades but not with memory guidance. These visually-dependent movement-related neurons for microsaccades are very intriguing indeed, and our current and future work will try to understand them better!
