We are extremely proud that our recent paper, Sensory Tuning in Neuronal Movement Commands, has won yet another award! This time, the paper was recognized by the ATTEMPTO Prize, which is a prize that was initiated more than 40 years ago already. This prize recognizes outstanding achievements in neuroscience research, and it is celebrated at an official ceremony of the University Alliance.
Matthias Baumann was present at yesterday’s ceremony, and he gave a short description of the essence of the discovery in front of all attendees. The ceremony took place at the historic Alte Aula building in the old city of Tübingen.
This prize is particularly special, in our view, because it has a long history of predicting successful academic careers. Perusal of previous winners reveals a literal “Who’s who” of neuroscientists who are now very well known for their high achievements and knowledge generation in their respective areas of expertise. We are happy to see Matthias join the ranks of these scientists! We are also especially happy that this is not the first recognition for this paper, but it is actually the second within a span of only a few months! Earlier in the summer, this paper was additionally recognized as the Hertie Institute Paper of the Year for 2023 publications.
Our lab has also previously won the same award for our earlier work linking microsaccades to neuronal modulations associated with covert visual attention shifts, and we hope to continue generating meaningful discoveries by our team members.
